Commissar Painted

Hey all!

Remember a time long ago (Or rather just a few months back) I scratch built a Imperial Guard Commissar?

Well, I had it painted up after dragging my heels on it for a couple of days. So finally, I finished it and here are the finished pictures of the Commissar: 

Though the rear may not be that good looking, but I think it would have been worse.

So here is my summary: The chest plate which is supposed to have the aquila was missing. Hence I had to freehand it onto the front plate and the peak cap. I must say I did a terrible job at it, with the aquila on the chest plate look more like poor paint work (which is a fact). the peak cap aquila was worse than the chest plate one, barely visible in the picture and poorly done. The back of the commissar, which is also his coat, was painted with grey lines to make the coat look like it is bending. While as for the other grey lines, I was hoping to achieve the result of making it more realistic but that point has to be improved by a lot.

All in all, I think it is better to get the Games Workshop one. Though price may become a problem to get a commissar, I think it is still worth to get one. The details are great and I am hoping to get one soon.

My personal favourite Commissar in the Games Workshop range would be the Commissar with the Powerfist (Who is also carrying a book on his other hand).

To round off this post, Games Workshop Commissar is better as compared to mine, that's for sure. Loads of improvement needed when doing scratch-building. My painting needs to be improved!

Da Squig

Hey all!

Sorry for not posting after so long. I have not really been active in making or converting any stuff and with my Imperial Guard army waiting in line to be painted, my time is really tied up.

I was sealing the slotted bases with Kneadatite Greenstuff and got quite a small bunch of it as an extra. Though the additional Kneadatite may not be useful for large scratch building, but on the plus side, I got something made out of it. 

And that is Da Squig!

The Squig which I made is about half an inch tall and three quarters an inch in length. Not a very big model but still lovely to me, though the details isn't really on it.

Who doesn't love Squigs?

Squigs are like one of first favourite xenos in the 40k Universe. I first knew them through the first book for the 40k Universe which I read: 'Rebel Winter' by Steve Parker. 

This book was also the book which lead me into starting Warhammer 40k.

The Squigs only featured at a small portion in the book but got me captivated ever since.

My thought was to get myself some squigs, but in those days, I only managed to find bomb Squigs for the 40k Universe that were in metal. When I finally got down and decided to get myself those Squigs, they became unavailable. 

I actually thought of getting for myself the Orks tankbustus that comes with two bomb squigs but I never got down to get it.

That was until a few weeks back that I saw the Warhammer Fantasy too had Squigs. But sadly they were in finecast. Though the details were good, I considered probably not to get it. 

Hence, until now where I finally decided I want a Squig! So with spare Kneadatite on my hands, I got down to it and finished it up. Though the Squig may be smaller as compared to standard sized Squigs, but I was pretty happy with the results. That is especially so when I spent close to three hours to have it completed!

This gets me tempted to get myself some Squigs from the Games Workshop site but with the new Imperial Guard edition looming closer by the day and some solid rumours of awesome looking Paladin Knights just round the curb, Squigs are sadly pushed aside for now.

Unboxing Bretonnian Men-at-arms

Hey all!

Here I am today doing a short unboxing for the Bretonnian Men-at-arms for Warhammer Fantasy. 

The picture below shows the box of this set. Though the box at the top right corner is a little damaged but it is still recognisable.

Let us take a look at the contents in the box. 

From the box, there is a Bretonnian transfer sheet decal, a packet of 16 square bases, and 8 sprues.

This allows you to build up 16 men-at-arms.

Let us take a look at two of the unique sprues:

This two sprues comes attached together. This allows you to make a standard bearer, champion and the musician if I am not mistaken. As you can see, this two sprues includes 4 men-at-arms body with shields and some awesome weapons and bits to customize your miniatures!

For the next sprues that we are talking about, they are repeated. So let us take a look at the first one first, which is the weapon sprue.

The weapon sprue includes six halberds and some bits in which you could include as the gear in which the men-at-arms where to battle.

The halberds are all uniquely designed, though there seemed to be two which are of almost the same design.

You will get 3 of this weapon sprue.

Next would be what I call the body sprue.

This sprue includes 4 bodies of the men-at-arms, 4 shields and 8 heads.

The four bodies are uniquely posed and are of different designs.

For the four shields given, there are 3 different types. 2 of which are unique, one of them with a spike below and another with a clip at the edge of the shield, the other 2 are whole shields that are similar to each other.

Each of this sprue allows you to choose from 8 different heads, giving you a wide variety of combination for your men-at-arms during assembly.

You will get 3 of this sprue too.

So this is just a short unboxing, hope you all like it. 

I got this at a discounted price due to the condition of the box, but I do hope you will all get one of this awesome set. I highly recommend this set.

Chinese New Year

The Foam Mission

Hey all!

I am back again!

I have spent almost half a day finishing up a felt model. Reason being I did one was to replace a Catachan model that I gave to my Dad.

So I believe this may appeal to some people who wants to try.

The following is a picture with a Catachan model for size comparison:

Though I must say this is time consuming as I have to let the glue set before I can go on.

For me, I make felt models for fun at home and I will most probably get the models I want when I get the chance to. But as said previously, I made one to replace another which I have given away.

Hence after seeing how cool it was, I have decided to make a Winterial on it when I get the time to.

The Hydra

Hey all!

So it's been quite a while since I last wrote on the blog. Sorry about that. I was busy with the application for further studies and all. Plus my laptop screen broke (I accidentally broke it) and I am currently down with a flu (Hence this gave me a chance to take a break and write on the blog).

Recently I have been working on this guy:

Yep, it is the Imperial Guard Hydra Flak Tank.

I dug it out of my storage when I was packing the boxes. I guess I bought this a while back but never had the chance to push myself to finish it. Until now.

It took me more than half a day to complete it. Now, the hatch, head of the tank commander, the turret and its awesome guns are all bluetack as I want to remove them later to paint. 

Though it is an awesome kit, it is hard to build.

I damaged the upper hull piece and the top of the turret. Hence now the Hydra has become a one and only because it is damaged. But it should be fine as it gives the tank a more unique look.

I love this kit, but it is kind of expensive. You could either just buy the conversion kit or buy the complete set. You would need a basilisk tank battery if you only buy the conversion kit.

So here are the pictures for it: 

I could not make a Winterial for it as I made some mistakes along the way aand I guess you should not follow them. Hence maybe wait till I get another kit and get a Winterial made up.

Aftermath:

There are lots of bending of the parts, especially the guns. But that is unavoidable. Hence you need hot water to make it straight again.

Do not use too much on the resin parts. Surprisingly the hatch on top of the turret became powdery and white and hard, like as if they were deformed.

Never ever do this without a professional help or do this without someone who never did this before. Lucky ones would get it right, unlucky ones like me would have to make do with the damage done to it.

The Fate Decided

Hey all!
So I have gotten my results approximately 2.5 hours ago. I believe all of you will be excited about it.
So here's the conclusion. I did better then what I have expected myself to get. Hence this blog survives!
And to celebrate the continuation of this blog, I would like to let you know about what to expect next. There will bound to be unboxing of some new releases for the upcoming Imperial Guard sets, more kit-bashing Winterials and many more to come! So stay tune and do look out for new posts on this blog!
