The Tenebrose Legion

Hey all, its been such a long time since I wrote a post for my blog. Really missed updating stuff into here for myself. So here it is. (Story After Pictures :D)

I have been working on my custom Imperial Guard, Astra Militarum force. Wanted to go for the Vostroyan Firstborns but I it doesn't fit the story I wanted. So they might appear in the future but as for now, presenting to you the Tenebrose Legion.

Spent a while painting them as I have been really busy but its finally done. Rather the Infantry is done for now anyways, going to add more slowly in the future.

Group Shot

Command Squad - Captain 'Mad Hound' Dynch

The 'First Rank Fire Second Rank Fire' Squad - 1st Squad

The 'Fixed Bayonet' Squad - 2nd Squad

 3rd Squad

4th Squad

A total of 45 bodies and counting. I'll post up some pictures of other warriors of Tenebrose that I have worked on in another future post. As for now, enjoy the backstory:

The Tenebrose Legion

Once a proud and noble system, the Tenebrose system. The men of Tenebrose march forward into the stars, waging wars in the Emperor’s name. Purging the xenos, killing the heretics. An unbreakable sword as they pierced through the stars, claiming victory after victory.

Though strong and proud they may be, they yearn to return home one day, as all men does when the fighting finally ends. But to all, such was the dreams that can never be fulfilled.

When the chance came to them to return, they never knew it was to be under such circumstance. The Tenebrose Grand Fleet was sent back to their home, not as victors; not as heroes, but as enemies. While they raged war across the stars, their home fell into darkness. Chaos set its roots deep into the core and plunged the whole system into fear and horror.

Rage and anger consumed all of the Tenebrose warriors as they crashed right into the chaos fleet in the system. Calling vengeance from all Tenebrose, a total of 7 Grand Fleet of Tenebrose came home, annihilating the chaos fleet in a show of force and made straight for home.

In a single order, tens of thousands of dropships made haste to the surface alongside at least a million Tenebrose scions teleporting onto the planet surface. What they saw was no longer what they remember as home. The Emperor’s monuments defiled, chaos banners flew high in the wind, demons unleashed across the entire lands. What was once the proud and noble warriors of the Tenebrose are now but mutant cultist of chaos.

Bitter fighting soon ensued as the order to retreat came. Harried by the merciless demons and cultists, barely a quarter of the fighting force made it back to orbit. There was no more hope for what they call home. This no longer is their home.

Though reluctant, the command was given, Exterminatus Extremis. The Grand Fleets of Tenebrose unleashed their fury unto the heretics who defiled their home. Watching with heavy heart and tears within the eyes of every warrior, they watched their home slowly killed off.

One by one, the planets within the system ruptured and exploded under the full fury of the Grand Fleets. Within the month, there was no life left within the Tenebrose system. The asteroids, what was once the planets of the Tenebrose system, was all that’s left.

The Inquisition saw to it that Tenebrose system will never surface upon the maps the Imperium again. Only those of Tenebrose shall know of this place. The warriors of Tenebrose are henceforth labelled as traitors of the Imperium.

Carrying the scars of this tragedy, the warriors of Tenebrose seek to redeem themselves through combat into death. They seek to redeem their tarnished name and avenge those who sacrificed defending their home.

The last seen of the warriors of Tenebrose, now calling themselves the Tenebrose Legion, was at the very edge of the Emperor’s Astronomican.

Some claim to have seen them fought against the heretical fleets of chaos, others claim they single-handedly halted the advance a splinter hive fleet leviathan at the far flung reaches of the sector. Yet these reports were placed into confidence.

As till now, the fate of the Tenebrose Legion slowly unfolds into a bitter end.

This is just a backstory, a history of the Tenebrose hidden dark past. Stay tuned to look out for the second part as to what they have been doing :D and I'll see y'all in the next post.

Fire Hawks and Imperial Fists

So, its been a long time since I have posted in this blog as to be honest, I don't really have much to post these days. Most of the things that I have been working on are just plans drafting, future projects to do, some painting and catching up on my novels.

But I decided to share with you guys some marines which I have painted up about 2 weeks ago. Yes, that's a long time ago. Now I will share it with you.

The first would be my own Imperial Fists:

Sorry about the lighting as this was taken with my phone and the image does not really do the actual figure justice. The one on the left is the recent one while on the right would be one which was used as a paint scheme test for the Fist which I really liked. The based I did it as a urban style of base as I am hoping to start my Vostroyan someday. The urban base could make a connection to my Vostroyan in the future and also easier for me to add the snow instead of having to repaint it,

The next would be my Fire Hawks. Yes, you saw correct. Fire Hawks:

The Fire Hawks are something which I have been working on for a while. 5 of them have only been recently painted, the rest are in various stages months before. Some looks shinier then the others are probably the older ones. I had them satin varnish in the past before I got my matt varnish and did the matt on the entire squad. The colors in the group image does not really do it justice. Here is a close up on one of them:

This image was taken right before I batch paint the remaining 5 bolter marines. You can see them in the background. The symbols on every of their shoulder pads are free handed:

When I finally get my hands on more marines, I might just do up a tutorial for the Fire Hawks and the Imperial Fists.

That's all for today's post. Hope you guys look forward for more awesome content.

Mortar team completed!

So here I am finally back home, completing some stuff, tying up some loose ends. The long awaited Imperial Guard/ Astra Militarum mortar team. Its just one as I only finished one, but I find this a great accomplishment as this was the first basing that I actually went through great lengths and thoughts to finish it. Comments and criticism are all welcomed as this help me to improve.

(FRONT)

(SIDE)

(REAR)

(TOP)

The top view actually makes the scene more obvious, like being in the middle of the fighting. As the crew race against time to fire their mortar into enemy lines, their position scattered with their equipment, hastily put aside to support their brothers fighting at the frontline.

This would actually be my main mortar team among the 3 which they have in a squad, hence the vox-caster, receiving coordinates and transmitting them to the other teams.

So that's all for today's post. Do let me know your views on this! Follow my blog to receive more cool posts!

Rhino, Assault Marines, Fire Hawks

So I have not been posting anything on a regular basis, so I guess I would just update you guys on what I am working on for the past few days, though it not really is much.

A week ago, I built myself a Rhino that I got from a friend, one which I bought. The thing is he didn't provide me with any instructions. Thus I based on the picture that I got from the Games Workshop site, I went on and built it. Took me quite a while to finish up the tank tracks but I got it. And there it is completed:

I left the top hatch opened so I can store up some of those bits that I got that I don't want to glue on, such as the side hatch and the pintle mounted storm bolter, It makes a good storage space if you ask me, being able to keep spare bits inside.

I have been wondering what colour scheme should I paint? Imperial Fists or Fire Hawks? I got a few Fire Hawks marines done and once I finish the squad, I would post some pictures on it up. There wasn't much information by Games Workshop what paints is recommended for Fire Hawks, so this paint scheme was actually after a long period of trail and error. I did freehand for the shoulder pads too.

I have also been working on some assault marines. I hope to be able to complete them soon and probably make a painting Winterial out of it. These assault marines are going to be in blood angels colours, I was hoping to use them as an ally for my Astra Militarum, after I saw the effectiveness of their work in some battle reports. Blood Angels are definitely on the list.

So that's all for now. Hopefully I can finish up everything on hand real quickly so that I can finally get some solid post up on my blog as well as my youtube channel.

Tau colour scheme test 1

With my crisis suit built, I decided to come up with a colour scheme. I do not like the colour scheme provided for the fire caste and decided to do something neutral. This is so that they might one day serve by the side of my guards.

I came up with the colour scheme to be full black, with the metal parts being used with nuln oil. Light blue was used alongside dark grey. I am so excited about this colour scheme that I am tempted to make a tutorial out of it!

Some looks on the tau gundrone:

See you all soon!!!!!!
Great stress relieve when examinations are so near!!!

Tau coming!

So during the weekend I went to my local hobby store as there was a discount, or sort of like a discount: Spend above $250 and get the specific few items to be 49% off. So I went to grab only a few items. They are the bretonnian army box, Khorne berzerkers, and a Imperialis basing kit which I plan to use on some of my cadians once those stressful examinations end. The two items that I got off the 49% was just a Tau crisis suit and the necron spyder.

So to cope with the stress, I have built up the tau crisis suit.

Since this was my first crisis suit, I decided to make him look like he is floating in air, probably just descending upon the world he is about to conquer. I have decided to also get two more crisis suits together with him to the left and right, both halfway down shooting to the left and right respectively.

I armed him with everything I though was pretty cool, have his arms open like an invitation for an attack. Plus I decided to have the shield on the base, such that it would mark him out as a leader and also for the Tau transfer to go on, For the Greater Good!

That's all for today so see you guys soon! Time to dig out my pathfinder squad and craft out a unique paint scheme for it!

Happy National Day painting chaos cultist!!

It's been a while since I am back in front of my painting table working on my next project. With the examinations nearing and stress level increasing, the National Day celebration yesterday, 9 August, was well timed, allowing myself to start my painting as a way to de-stress myself.

Thus I managed to finish up the remaining three chaos cultists to take a group shot:

These cultists are more the followers of Khorne, hence I painted these guys in red and black. As you can see, it is the dominant colour for all cultists.

These are really awesome miniatures, they come with more details than you can hope for, making it sometimes tiring to paint up all those tiny details. But they are one of the coolest miniatures that I can find in the chaos section, other than the chaos raptors.

I am now looking forward to finish my examinations soon (._.) that will last for three weeks, it has already started last Friday. Hopefully I can get through the examinations quickly and start painting again. I plan to finish up my youtube channel so I can post some videos on, plus some tutorials. Hopefully I can also get more cultists, making a tutorial out of it.

Thank you all for reading. And Happy National Day!!! (which was yesterday)

Imperial Fists Terminator Sergeant finally complete!

With my examinations coming, I decided to do something unproductive towards it and finish up my Imperial Fists terminator sergeant. It has been such a long time since I last got in touch with my hobby of painting and now I have finally finished it.

Enjoy the pictures!!!!!!

[Front]

[Left]

[Back]

[Right]

I would most probably finish up the remaining of his squad the moment my examinations finish and start working on the normal marines.

Remember the paints I stripped off of some marines some days back? Well, they would be the test models for the Blood Ravens! So stay tune for more updates. There won't be much these coming days but once my examinations finish, be prepared to read loads of posts!!!!!

How long has it been?

How long has it been already? Coped up at home just to finish up the Imperial Fists terminator sergeant. On the last count, I have already spent 16 hours on it already. Finally, here is the final product.

Before looking at the pictures, just to let you all know that I forgot that I have already used up my glue. So the pictures are the bits and pieces of the terminator after it is painted. Once I get my hands on the glue, I would show my fully built sergeant again.

(body and shield)

(bits and pieces)

(head)

So I chose a helmeted head for the sergeant, since he is going to post with Lysander and I don't want him to steal all the light. Plus I am bad at painting skin.

After thoughts now. I am going to stop painting yellow for the time being. Took me a whole 10 layers of yellow just to finish up the armour. Lots of repainting, drastically lowering the quality of my terminator. The eyes are actually green with a white dot at the top middle of the eye. Why? Well I was hoping for it to be at the edge like light but my brush dotted it in the middle and it is beyond my ability to change it. My brush is sacrificed. Yes, the fifth brush to meet it's fate while painting this guy, thus the many repainting.

Overall, it was a cool guy to paint. I was hoping to finish the squad but I guess I would stop it for a few days, let my eyes rest and also get my glue. So see you all soon!

How to paint Imperial Guard Valhallan Ice Warrior with meltagun Winterial Part 3

Before I go on to Part 3, let me add on something which I forgot at Part 2.

One thing to take note is the face. You can choose to add a dot with Ceramite White at the nose to make it look like it is cold but sunny!

Paints required in Part 2:

1. Citadel Base: Ceramite White
2. Citadel Base: Celestra Grey
3. Citadel Layer: Altdorf Guard Blue
4. Citadel Layer: Lothern Blue
5. Citadel Shade: Reikland Fleshshade

Now that that's done, let's get on to Part 3!

Step 1:

Mixing 3 part Lothern Blue to 1 part Ceramite White, drybrush over the Lothern Blue areas heavily.

Step 2:

Mxing 1:1 Lothern Blue and Ceramite White, drybrush heavily too at the Lothern Blue areas from the previous step. Note: Show some parts of the Lothern Blue without them being covered by the drybrush. This is to show some sort of paint transition.

Step 3:

For the the satchel which he has around his body, paint it first with Zandri Dust. After which, drybrush heavily with Tallarn Sand. Note that parts of the satchel under the meltagun can also be seen. So remember to paint it too!

Step 4:

On the miniature, you should be able to see a scroll like thing attached to his waist. I painted it with Zandri Dust before washing the recesses with Seraphim Sepia. You can choose to wash it with Reikland Fleshshade to get a darker recess.

Another alternative is to wash the entire Zandri Dust layer with a Seraphim Sepia before bringing the colour back up with Zandri Dust.

Step 5:

The pouches at his waist were painted Rhinox Hide. One thing not seen here is that I also had the edges of the pouch highlighted with Zandri Dust.

Step 6:

Time to paint the meltagun. I painted the body of it Abaddon Black and the barrel and ammo tank at the side leadbelcher. One of the pipes around the gun is also painted leadbelcher.

I highlighted the black parts of the gun with Altdorf Guard Blue.

Step 7:

For the satchel slung at the back of his body, I painted it with Mechanicus Standard Grey before going over with Celestra Grey, leaving the recesses with the darker grey colour. The strap for this satchel I also used Rhinox Hide.

You can also see the canteen is painted too. So the body of the canteen is Celestra Grey, the two flaps are Mechanicus Standard Grey and the winged skull is Ceramite White. You can choose to paint the buttons on the flaps Leadbelcher too.

From the picture below, you can see the pipe of the meltagun painted Leadbelcher and the pouches highlighted with Zandri Dust.

The boots were painted Abaddon Black with Altdorf Guard Blue highlight.

Step 8:

The base is crucial. So I painted the already white base with Ceramite White, before adding snow on. I used 1:1 mix of white glue with citadel snow.

(Just chilling in the sun)

Paints used:

1. Citadel Base: Ceramite White
2. Citadel Base: Abaddon Black
3. Citadel Base: Celestra Grey
4. Citadel Base: Mechanicus Standard Grey
5. Citadel Base: Leadbelcher
6. Citadel Base: Zandri Dust
7. Citadel Layer: Tallarn Sand
8. Citadel Layer: Altdorf Guard Blue
9. Citadel Layer Lothern Blue

That's all for Part 3, which also marks the end of this painting Winterial. Do let me know which part you need help with at the comments and I would gladly help out.

Thank you all for viewing. Rate this Winterial so that I can improve and give you all better Winterials in the future!

How to paint Imperial Guard Valhallan Ice Warrior with meltagun Winterial Part 2

Now for the next part of the Winterial for the Valhallan Ice Warrior.

Step 1:

This guy has a fur hat, so to paint the fur, I first added onto all the fur parts with Celestra Grey.

Step 2:

Using your brush, drybrush it with Ceramite White. I drybrushed it heavily but still have the grey showing. So just drybrush it slowly lightly each time till you get the consistency you want for the fur parts.

Step 3:

Paint the cloth part of the fur hat with Altdorf Guard Blue. Careful not to let any paint get onto the fur areas, if not, you may have to redo that part.

Step 4:

I used Reikland Fleshshade to wash the blue area, careful not to get any wash onto the fur areas before bringing the colour back up with Altdorf Guard Blue.

You can choose to skip this step as it will not be of much big difference to the end part.

Step 5:

For his Great Coat, paint it entirely with Altdorf Guard Blue but leave the his other equipments untouched as it may cover up many details.

Step 6:

Leaving the outlines of the the Great Coat Altdorf Guard Blue, I painted it with Lothern Blue. Some of the recesses have been left as Altdorf Guard Blue.

So we are going to end here today. I know the Winterial is going slow but this is the best speed for me when painting a model which has so much details on it. Every step has to be well thought of.

See you all in part 3!
